ED 308-Assignment 2-Design- Module 4



Good afternoon everyone,

This week in ED308 we have been introduced to the design phase of the ADDIE module.  In the design phase you add the assessments to your class. When designing a class you must first know what you want to test on before you create the materials that you will teach. As I was going through the reading materials and watching the videos I tried to think of the things that I would need to be testing on in my Photography class. My only assessments for my class will be weekly quizzes that will let me know that they know and understand the components of the camera and lenses. The only other assessments will be the pictures that they take to demonstrated the different lighting Technics . So as much as I hate to blog I have decided that my students will create a blog and submit the photos on their blog so that others can see their work and learn by their peers.

My item of interest this week is how you develop a class from the end to the beginning. This is great in that you want your students to learn the things that will be on the test. So it only makes sense to create the testing portion first.

My confusion has been lessened this week. I think I was trying to over think the outline of the class. I have added the assessment portion of the outline for the week and I think that part of the anxiety last week was thinking that I could not go back and change what I had submitted. The web site offered in the comments of last weeks blog was very helpful in adding information to my blog. After giving some thought to how I want to design this class it is not as confusing as I first thought.

I hope to have a better week next week as I am finally getting to the end of this flu. I hope that everyone has a great week and you are not exposed to the flu. One great advantage to taking classes online is that you do not have to have physical contact with anyone to continue working on assignments.

Since our creation of this blog, I have read about the important components need to develop an online classroom. As I read through the material I thought of the classes that I have taken and how each part was represented in the previous classes. Some classes presented more of the information than others.  We learned about ADDIE and in our assignment we will start with the "A" in the ADDIE model the Analysis in our course outline.  I have decided that I will develop my class on photography. I love photography and by no means am I an expert on it but I do enjoy it and would love to learn more about it myself. Blog entry 3 Building Community and Collaboration This week we have worked on the Course Outline Assignment, building community and collaboration. Reading the material and watching the videos give you assistance while building the course outline with helpful do's and don't. This project is very in depth, I have never completed a course outline. My interest this week is creating the student involvement. The most of the testing in my class will be at the beginning so that I know that they understand how to use the camera. I want my course to be more hands on, taking pictures and having the other students to assess the photos. I think the students will learn more from critiquing others work. My problem is that I would like for the students to share their pictures on a blog. I think this will be a good thing for them to start while in the class then the blog could be carried into a business for others to see their work. Blog Assignment 4: Engagement

This has been a week, I tried to get as much done at the first of the week as possible. I complete the Course site project and worked more on my outline assignment. I still have to add additional details to the outline, thank you Dr Gale for the suggestions and the review. Our reading this was about engagement and how we engage students within the online setting. As I develop my class on photography I want my students to engage as much as possible. If you were taking a real photography class and you were going to take photos for the public I think it would very important to have true critiquing of photos. I know when I have my children's pictures made I examine them well before I purchase them. So I feel like the engagement will go well in my class to prepare students for public observation of photos.
